Requirement

The UoC shall only re-use uncontaminated biosolids.

How Do I Interpret This Requirement?

  • The following outlines examples of the purposes for uncontaminated biosolids re-use:

    • Fertiliser in agriculture.

    • Maintenance and building of dykes.

    • Maintenance of roads or infrastructure.

    • Biogas.

Evidence of Implementation

  • Documents demonstrating the appropriate treatment and re-use of biosolids.

  • An example may be a biosolids management plan.

  • The management plan may include a flow diagram that outlines key steps for the treatment of biosolids prior to re-use to ensure they are uncontaminated.

Auditors Should Confirm

  • Documents, for example a biosolids management plan, have been presented which demonstrate only uncontaminated biosolids are re-used.
