Requirement
Indicator applicability: young employees aged 15 or above and above the age of completion of mandatory schooling. The UoC shall ensure that young employees do not work between 10pm and 6am.
How Do I Interpret This Requirement?
-
Working at night can be hazardous, particularly for young employees:
-
they can be tired and therefore more susceptible to accidents
-
working conditions at night are often more dangerous and not suitable for children under the age of 18.
-
Evidence of Implementation
-
age verification records
-
working hours records
-
payslips and pay records
-
young employees’ contracts.
Auditors Should Confirm
-
whether anyone under the age of 18 is employed at the UoC;
-
working hours and rest hours of employees under the age of 18;
-
that information in contracts, age verification records and payslips match;
-
young employees’ description of their working hours.
