Requirement

Indicator applicability: cleaner fish from wild caught origin The UoC shall demonstrate that the fishing gear used avoids injuries and unnecessary stress, and that it is suitable for the size and species of cleaner fish being captured.

How Do I Interpret This Requirement?

  • The fishing vessel sourcing the cleaner fish must be registered in the region and adhere to the local regulations.

  • Cleaner fish must be visually assessed for injuries in their holding facility.

Evidence of Implementation

  • Fishermen must be registered and aware of the transport regulations in their area.

  • Records:

    • Fishing vessel.

    • Date of capture.

    • Number of cleaner fish.

    • Assessment of cleaner fish.

Auditors Should Confirm

  • There are records of the source of the cleaner fish.

  • The assessment of the cleaner fish and any communication regarding sourcing of cleaner fish.
